D J Baker
My name is Daniel Baker but I go by DJ. I have lived in the Yuba County foothills most of my life, and I have spent many years recreating within the local area. Whether it is hunting, fishing, camping or hiking I have always enjoyed being outside in nature. I have been fortunate enough to have worked as a volunteer firefighter with the Loma Rica/Browns Valley fire department. This led into working as a seasonal wildland firefighter with Cal Fire for a few years in the local (Nevada, Yuba, Placer) until a work injury made it unable for me to continue in that career field. I relied on the construction experience I obtained before Cal Fire to start my own construction business. After some time, my wife and I decided that due to my injury it would be wise to change careers. I returned to school and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Wildlife and Fish Conservation Biology from U.C. Davis. This was in order to weave my passion for the outdoors with my passion for conserving what we can enjoy today for those in our future to enjoy also. I am honored for the chance to use all of my different experiences with this new position. I get to work within my home community and I am looking forward to what the future has for the Yuba County RCD and for my Yuba County neighbors.
